A HomeLink gate opener is convenient so you don't have to get out of your car to open your entry gate. With the push of a button, you can have access on demand. All it takes is some programming, and you can reap the benefits of security and privacy with your new gate opener.
It's important that all objects and people are out of the way while you're programming your HomeLink opener as harm or damage could occur.
How to Troubleshoot a Gate Opener
Make sure all pets are also out of the way when the gate will be opening and closing, which could pose a danger to your pets. First, park your HomeLink-integrated vehicle near the gate you wish to access and keep the vehicle's ignition turned on. If this is your first time programming the opener, press and hold the two outer buttons on the vehicle's HomeLink device. Release when you see the lights begin to flash. It could take 20 seconds for the lights to show.
Once the lights appear, hold the transmitter approximately 1 to 3 inches away from the HomeLink control buttons while still keeping the indicator light within sight. Press the desired handheld transmitter button and the HomeLink button simultaneously with both hands.
Don't release the buttons until you see the light flashing, changing from slow to rapid. Upon seeing the lights flash rapidly, you can release both buttons. Next, press and hold the button on your newly programmed HomeLink device and watch the indicator light. A solid and continuous indicator light means the programming is complete.
Your device will now activate upon pressing the HomeLink button. If the light continues to blink rapidly, you have a rolling code system and must continue with the next steps.
Locate your receiver, known as your motorhead unit, on your entry gate opener motor. Find the "smart" or "learn" button, which can usually be found near the control panel. If you're having issues finding the button, consult your owner's manual. For community gates, seek out the assistance of maintenance personnel. Once you find the button, press it and then release. Once you press the button, you only have 30 seconds to move on to the last steps.
Quickly return to your vehicle and hold the HomeLink button for two seconds, then release. Lastly, you'll need to press, hold and release in a sequence of three to complete the programming.

It is a really complicated process and this is why it is extremely important for the future owners to know what they will use the gate for. They should thoroughly explain to the technician what the purpose of that gate will be so that the technician could recommend the most suitable gate for them.
The future owners will also have to choose between different materials, styles, colors, types of automation and ways of opening. There should be a safety check done by the technician before the gate is installed so that the technician could know if the gate is suitable for the given conditions.
As with any other device, some problems may occur during the installation process. These are some of the most usual ones. There are several problems your gate might experience when the low temperatures strike. You might notice some delay in opening of your gate, or even the inability to open at all. Metal components will contract as the temperature drops and unless you are using grease specially intended for lower temperatures, the grease will thicken, too. All this makes it harder for the gate to move and open since it requires more power.
Another problem is the battery since it is inside a metal box. Due to this, as the temperature gets lower outside, the internal temperature of the battery will also drop and this will make it harder for the battery to start because of the reduction of the electro-chemical reaction. This reaction is meant to produce the electrical current which allows the gate system to operate. You may have noticed that if you try to open it a couple of times, it will finally work.
What happens here is very similar to what happens to your car when it is cold outside. The same thing happens when you repeatedly try to start the engine. These actions create an internal resistance in the battery causing it to physically warm up from the inside, just enough to start the engine.
Luckily for all of us, there are several corrective steps that a person can take. If you follow the order of these steps, you will get an inexpensive solution to your problem. Since Lead acid batteries emit Hydrogen gas during the charging process, the top part of the battery and the battery box MUST be vented to eliminate the hydrogen and prevent a disaster such as an explosion. If all these steps did not help you and you still notice problems with the working of your gate opening mechanism, then I suggest you to take your battery out and take it to an auto parts store to be tested under load.Remember Me Forgot your password?

It would sometimes stop in the middle of the swing and only need to have the reset button pressed or maybe it was a circuit breaker. We never had any problem with the circuit or having to replace boards.
The times when the system needed resetting the most were when it was windy or when it was cold. Oh yes, it seemed to happen more on cloudy and drissly days when the battery was weak.
Another thing that can cause problems is sticking buttons on the remote control. The controller trys to change directions too fast and draws too much current. I looked all ovet this model and never did find a reset. Re: Mighty Mule Gate Opener www. Their offices are 2 blocks from mine.
